Are you ready for long hair? How many of us (counting me) are in the lengthy process of growing our hair long? Are you ready to give up and just going short again? Wait! Let’s talk Conditioner. One of the many concerns I hear in the chair is ... I think conditioner makes hair fall out. This is a myth. Using conditioner in your hair washing routine can promote healthier hair. But ... how many times have you strolled through the counters in search of the perfect shampoo and conditioner for your hair and leaving the aisle overwhelmed? I hear ya. It is important to pick the correct type of conditioner for your hair. Remember every hair is different and have different needs. Overall, don’t skip the conditioner. If you need help picking out the best type of conditioner, I can help!
The BFF; hair ties. Since I can remember I’ve had an unbreakable relationship with hair ties, well ... that is until they break. But, how satisfying is it to grab one and bunch up your hair on top of your head after a long day or even at the start of your day before your morning workout. Hmm, now that I think about it, anytime of the day is perfect to reach for a hair tie and collapsing that loved messy bun on our heads! But ... are they bad? Yes and no. Eventually they pull on our hair and create breakage. Think about it ... look at the one that is probably on your wrist now, it creates a dent on your wrist, can you imagine the damage on fragile hair? That is where most of your breakage comes from. Here is the solution ... instead of tight thinner hair ties especially with any sort of metal clasp, consider using ones that are loose and smooth. I am all for Invisibobbles! Straight, Curly, Wavy, Voluminous Hair? So many choices of hairstyles that we can create for that night out or for that polished office look. Many different type of hot tools lets us create numerous hair styles especially with evolving technology that we find in them now! One question I am afraid to ask ... are you using a heat protector every single time? It’s ok if you are not, but after reading this I hope I can be in your head every time you style your hair saying “Don’t forget to spray heat protector!” That would be creepy, right? But seriously; always, always, ALWAYS apply a barrier to your hair before applying heat. You wouldn’t go out on a 300+ degree weather (if you could) without any type of protection against the heat, would you? Your ends are the oldest and most fragile part of your hair. So, even if you are styling with very low heat or if it’s a “fast pass” with your iron, take the seconds to mist a protectant.
I hope these common mistakes and solutions help you out on your growing out stage. That long flowy envied hair will be worth it!
