How to avoid split ends ...

Split ends ... our worst enemy. An enemy we just can’t brush off. Have you ever heard of the saying ... “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?” Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating, but split ends can definitely be ANNOYING. There is nothing pretty about having frayed ends. It ends up making your beautiful hair look dull.

Don’t feel defeated just yet! There are ways to keep them away and under control for longer periods of time.

Here are some tips you can add to your beauty routine.

Get a trim. It is ideal to get trims on a regular basis, so those pesky split ends don’t visit us so fast. Typically, I recommend getting a hair trim every 5-6 weeks and if you are lucky and your hair is pretty strong then you could push it another week.

Shampooing. Now that your hair is freshly cut and feeling buttery soft, the next step is to make sure you are shampooing correctly. When you are washing your hair, you want to make sure you are focusing only on cleansing your scalp. Apply shampoo to your scalp and gently massage it without bunching your ends on top of your head. When you rinse out the shampoo the ends will get their share of wash. Follow your wash with conditioner focusing only on the ends.

Drying. Avoid roughing up your hair with a towel to help dry it. Roughing up your hair will not necessarily cause split ends, but it will create knots. When battling those knots with your brush you will most likely end up ripping your hair. Instead be gentle with your hair when trying to dry it. The gentler you are the easier it will be to detangle.

Moisturizer. Make sure to run a leave-in conditioner through your hair and target your ends! This adds a protective layer. It also locks hydration into your hair leaving it soft and smooth! I personally use Davines Oi All In One Milk. I love this product because it helps me tame my frizzies & leaves my hair smelling DELICIOUS all day!

You’ll be a step closer to saying good bye to split ends AND your hair will look way cuter!
